This creepy-as-hell vintage jam ad is a WTF as it comes. It's not uncommon to find old ads that are somewhat off kilter. Think you can find a legit ad that's more unsettling than this one? I challenge thee!
I'm pretty sure that it's a universal dream for everyone in the world to retire early. Who wants to to be stuck with the rest of the country and retire when you're almost 70 years old? You heard me right, 70! Most people can't go out and do the things they love to do by the time they're 70, unless they've been practicing good health and exercise their entire life.
What's your highest scoring game of Scrabble? Since starting this Scrabble World, I've been able to break 500 points on a regular basis. This year I've even managed to break the 600-point barrier a couple times. If you ask me, that's a pretty hefty sum to score in one game, but I'm not on par with the professionals yet.
Taken with Samsung Epic 4G Touch (Galaxy S II) used Little Photo to "Double Expose". I used to do this for real with an old camera on Black & White Film this is so much easier :-)
Theo Jansen is really cool. If you dig around in the corkboard here, you can find another video about him. He makes amazing kinetic sculptures from PVC pipe, and has a wonderful artistic point of view. I just discovered this old TEDTalks podcast via Taylor Browning's site. Fantastic stuff, check it out:
An old wooden horse head keychain fell to its demise in my candle. Took the opportunity to finally use the Camera+ app on my iPhone 4. I haven't really used it until today, so I guess I'm just playing around at this point... experimenting.
A multiboot cd created from SARDU which can be used to boot linux. It can even be used to install Windows. Force your old pc to boot on a usb using PLOP or clone a hd. Plus a lot more!
I took this photo of a dried hydrangia with a blooming cherry tree several yards behind it. The light was just right for the pink of the cherry blooms, a touch of green from the new leaves and the blue of the sky to give a nice Bokeh effect backing for the brown of the dried hydrangia bloom! Photo taken with a Nikon D-60.
I'm sure many of you have already seen this, but being Halloween and mathematically inspired, I thought I'd dig up an old favorite for those who may have missed it. Original post with quote from Cyriak here. More fractal hands: Tim Hawkinson's "Fruit" Series
PayPal has, all in all, been great for allowing Web 2.0 economy to grow. For most entities, it's the best way to send money between two people on the internet.
Camera manufacturers release new versions of the same cameras, mostly point-and-shoot models, as frequently as Detroit's auto industry upgrades minivans. They also add new lenses regularly, upgrading previous models with adjusted zoom ranges or the image stabilization feature. The same goes for tripods, portable flashes and even camera bags.
This is my little girl 4yrs old. And one crazy day off with dad today!!! I think it would have been better with just her in the photo, but she insisted that I be in the photo (after 3 shots) this is the result!! I am lucky to have some cool kids. #giveawaytuesdays
Ok, serious question here: is +Zach Katz even old enough to be on Google+? This rap tells you all you need to know about Google+, and also tells us that...well, not a lot of people actually know what Google+ is.
The last week has been a trying one for me. On Sunday, there were four computers in my office, three of which were broken. The fourth was not really a computer, but more of a collection of parts that were cobbled together for the purpose of constructing a PC that would sneer derisively at the mere mention of turning down any game's ambient occlusion settings.
Got an achy back that won't go away? Not all of us have the money to splurge on a massage therapist, but there are several DIY techniques that may help alleviate your back pain and muscle discomfort without completely breaking the bank. Thank goodness for those spare socks with missing pairs and old tennis balls.
American whiskeys tend to get an undeservedly bad rap from Scotch whisky snobs. Prove haters wrong by inviting them over for an American bourbon tasting with your favorite Wild Turkey varieties.
Flying out of Bellingham, WA this past Sunday morning in a twin prop airplane. It was still dark down below but after rising above the clouds we were high enough to see the sun rise. Taken with the plain old iPhone 4 camera app... no affects applied.
Every Friday here at Indie Games Ichiban, I will feature a sampling of reviews from the mountains of indie and vintage games that have crossed my internet connection in the past week. Each week will have some sort of theme, this week being old school turn-based strategy games available on Steam.
I am more excited for this indie gem from Supergiant games than I am for any other 2011 release. The gameplay, visual style, music, and unique narration all look focused and stimulating.
Scream 4, a call-back sequel to the 10+ yr. old Scream franchise is not too bad, according to Matt Brown. But if you ain't gonna go see it, he's got something for you to watch instead...
My GF showed this off to me. Found it in old plastic containers which we are keeping for no reason. And so she put some fish sauce in it (patis). Nice look, great for serving patis.
1 large Idaho potato 12 large eggs
You know what time it is? ADVENTURE TIME!!!!! You alright Finn? No man. Old ladies died because of me. Not you, me. (That last part is what i added)
If you are in the LA area (my old stomping grounds) Karen Cope is the person I would suggest going to for classes. Take a look at her website and see what I am talking about.
Extremely impressive. I want me some of Jimmy's magical bird song impersonation skills.
I had one day-old slice of Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust. I was going to just make toast. I'm so glad this happened instead. Fusion cuisine bacheeze-stylee.
While the new Facebook redesign doesn't include many usability changes, the visual tweaks are a definite improvement to the old design. Perhaps the best feature is the ability to scroll photo collections infinitely, as well as the new visual prominence given to your personal stats and photos (job, dating status, location, etc.).
Happy Turkey day, Yanks! Mike from thesubstream is finding it very hard to NOT recommend you go see Dwayne "The Rock Master" Johnson in the straight-up, no-laugh old-school action flick Faster.
If the old tron was re-cut as a trailer for modern audiences it might look like this.
For a small business, here's a novel advertising idea: cover your building with 120 mounted bicyces, in lieu of a boring old "Bicycle Shop" sign. Amazing picture, taken in Altlandsberg, Germany. Zoom in here.
This prank seems kinda road runner/ wiley coyote-ish. You get someone to ride a bike or motorcycle perhaps during night-time, possibly in a race.
There were some additions to the game today that are not part of a theme. First off we have a new Co-Op that you can join to win the Truck Seeder
Finally, gamers can do it in style. And by "it", yes, I mean IT. Graphic designer Ben Marsh has come up with a collection of awesome packaging for condoms, in the style of old Game Boy games. Don't miss the crudely fun "instruction sheet" at the bottom of the page.
Who knows if this is going to be any good? In my experience, these combo consoles that claim to be able to play your Atari and NES games are eventually doomed to failure, as you're stuck hunting down Duck Hunt cartridges and then having to stick them in the freezer when they eventually freeze on-screen.
Star Wars: The Old Republic CGI Trailer. Bioware/EA's upcoming MMO. If this doesn't beat WoW, nothing will. Ah who are we kidding, WoW has already been beaten.. by Farmville!
"A Day in PARIS" is a dreamy short by filmmaker Benoît Millot, shot on the Canon 7D Mark I. The footage looks truly fantastic. Pretty old news by now, but I'm still amazed how pro you can go with a $1500 consumer camera.
Review: Get Him to the Greek So much puke
New and old school publishing collide. Letter to Jane's newest issue is available in app format for the iPad for $0.99.
A wise old man once said randoms best come on Tuesdays. What? As a bonus, when looking over the rough draft for this post, here is how wonderhowto described it:
