Since Angry Birds is apparently an "indie game", here's an interesting tidbit. Changsa, China's Window of the World theme park recently added an especially zeitgeisty activity to their collection of diverse attractions: a real-life Angry Birds game, which allows participants to catapult Angry Bird "balls" at targets using an actual slingshot.
Angry Birds might be the most visible video game franchise in the world today. It has sold 100 million units, as many as all the Sims games put together. It has been incorporated into board games, birthday cakes, and Israeli sketch comedy shows. And yet, this piece of seeming mass-media whoredom is an indie game. Wha?
Rovio's highly successful Angry Birds game has generated a slew of wannabe Angry Clones and dominated nearly every device and platform known to man—iPhone, Android, PSP, Xbox 360, Windows—and now, for the first time it's available for play directly on the web (for free). It was specifically designed for Google's Chrome OS and their new Chromebook line of laptop computers, but can play on any device in almost any web browser (like Firefox).
In December 2009, Angry Birds was released to the public. The iPhone and iPod touch were the first to take on the demand, then a devoted HD version for the iPad. Since then, it's transcended iOS devices to appear on Android, Nokia, Palm phones, and many others. Next, it broke away from mobile devices with versions available on PSP, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, 3DS, Windows PC and Mac computers. Facebook and Windows Phone 7 apps are in the works.
Watch out Angry Birds, there's a new bird-flinging game in town and its zen flavor is converting addicted Angry Bird players far and wide. Within the first week of its release, Tiny Wings—a $0.99 mobile phone game developed by Andreas Illinger—soared to the top ten most popular paid apps in the US. Then, unthinkably, it dethroned Angry Birds at the number one spot, where it continues to reign.
Angry Birds may have lost its first place grip in the iTunes App Store, but it still reigns supreme on the NOOK. And starting today, for a limited time, Angry Birds addicts with a NOOK Color can visit any Barnes & Noble retail location to unlock the free playable character, Mighty Eagle.
Angry Birds is so popular now that it's getting its own animated TV series! When and where? Who knows? But if it's any bit as popular as the iPhone game, it's sure to be a huge success. But it's unlikely to attract any of the older Angry Birds gamers that actually own iPhones.

This origami video tutorial will show you how to make an origami paper bird and tree. First, fold the square piece of paper in half diagonally. Then fold the paper in half again. Now, fold it in half and open the last fold back up. The flap that is unfolded now is the one that you open slightly and flatten. Flip the paper over and do the same thing you just did to the other side, as well. Now that the paper is a small square, you take one of the bottom corners (the open ones) and you fold it ...
Small version of a 3 image stiched panorama out the window of a 737 at 35,000 feet and 500 mph. :) These are fun pictures to take if you have good weather and the window isn't too scratched up.
Taken in September. Had just finished kayaking Lake Atitlan and came across this hammock while exploring the hotel grounds. Craziest part is this place was $34 a night.
I can't win the prize (though I wish I could), so I decided to show off more than just one photo from a recent hot air balloon ride I took. If you're going to submit to the contest, make sure to only submit one photo, to make it fair.

On Monday, ElectricPig's Mark Cooper became something of an Internet sensation when he posted a video of playable Angry Birds birthday cake he made for his son Ben's 6th birthday. Now, with a little help from this step-by-step guide by Mark himself, you can make an Angry Birds cake to call your own! It's said that the original took 10 hours to build and 2 minutes to destroy. With the benefit of Mark's experience, however, you should be able to peel some time off of both those numbers.
Kickass collection of Angry Birds LEGO art by Tsang Yiu Keung. Note: Catapult them and they will assuredly shatter into a pile of tiny LEGO bricks, just like the fate of the pigs they're aiming for.
Joystiq reports, "Mattel is working on a board game adaptation of Rovio's mobile hit, Angry Birds. The game looks like a pretty authentic recreation of its source material; players draw 'Mission Cards' depicting structures of bricks and pigs, which they then build using plastic models included in the game. Oh, and then they shoot birds at those structures using a tiny slingshot."

Angry Birds and FarmVille have become two of the biggest game franchises in the world. And recently their creators, Rovio and Zynga, have hit the news again, but not because of anymore major game announcements.

The widely used expression "free as a bird" intimates an enviable existence: delicate, yet mighty wings transporting to destinations no human could so breezily venture. But despite their fanciful, superhero ability, in truth, the avian race leads one of the most difficult existences in the animal kingdom. Yes, birds have existed for eons—they likely evolved from small dinosaurs of the Jurassic period—but for these creatures, life can be ruthless.
This week, we take a break from the holidays and focus on one of our favorite pastimes: video games. With new releases, hacks, and Easter eggs coming out every day, it's easy to be overwhelmed by the choices available. Never fear: we're here to help you sort out the wheat from the chaff.
I bought a sheet of ultra thin 1 ply Birdseye Maple veneer the other day and decided that It would look beautiful as a dodecahedron. I used some glue to attach it to cardstock and then cut it out as the net of a dodecahedron. I used a X-acto knife to lightly etch the fold lines on both the cardstock and the veneer so that it would fold crisply. I glued it all together using superglue. This post shows the net and how to fold it.
I took this photo standing on some bleachers at Berlin’s Hamburger Bahnhof Museum for Contemporary Art. Artist Carsten Höller’s “SOMA” installation consisted of live reindeer milling around, canaries in cages, and mice in mazes. It was trippy (the concept for the piece does include hallucinogenic reindeer urine), over-conceptualized, and super fun. The craziest thing was an elevated bed at the end of the walkway, in which patrons of the museum could spend the night (upon winning a raffle tick...
We were at the El Capitan on Sunday and while waiting for friends to show up we walked over to the massive Cirque du soleil Hollywood premiere for a few minutes. Around the time we were there celebrities were arriving so we just started taking pictures. I don't know a lot of celebrity names, some I only recognized by face (oh it's that dude from Swingers!), but this is the best shot I took above the crowd.

Insanely stylish and original, Luxirare has been blogged about all over the web.
