Last week in New York, I saw the new show Otherworldly: Optical Delusions and Small Realities at the Museum of Arts and Design, at Columbus Circle near the edge of Central Park, between Broadway and Eighth. Below is the museum’s description of the show:
If you've ever been to an amusement park or carnival, or even just been on a stroll down the boardwalk or promenade, then you probably know exactly what a caricature drawing is—those cartoony depictions of people or things with extremely exaggerated or oversimplified features that create a comedic effect. Caricatures aren't just for street artists, though—they also work great for political satire and entertainment purposes.
Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a gallery space or expensive art education to share your art with the rest of the world. Take a cue from today's innovative artists who share their creative experiments directly out on the streets and in public spaces for the everyday pedestrian in unique and quirky ways. And no, you don't have to be a skilled graffiti tagger, either. Just some yarn, random knick-knacks, photos, and Post-it notes as well as other basic office supplies.

Sometimes entrepreneurial inspiration comes from the oddest of places— such as, say, down-and-out crack dealer delivery methods. Inspired by HBO's The Wire, Kathleen and Clem of Fat Cookies are attracting a crowd with an atypical model for vending baked goods: oven fresh cookies are lowered via string in exchange for one hoisted dollar (1. pull a string, 2. attach a dollar, 3. get a cookie).
If you've ever had to call a large communications company with a customer service issue, you've most likely experienced the hopelessly not-at-all helpful operator from hell. Thanks to a program on VRT Belgium, you can now experience a small sense of vengeance for tortured customers everywhere.
You looked on as a 1,169-pound pumpkin flattened a Pontiac sedan, now watch a 1,500-pound box of cell phones smash a Chevy Camaro! Jalopnik reports, "A cell phone recycler took its YouTube promo campaign to a new level by dropping 1,500 lbs. of junked cellphones on a parked 4th-generation Camaro. The resulting mess answers a question only a Mustang fan would ever ask. The filmmakers later clarified that the Camaro wasn't in running condition ... and was bought by a member of the crew as a par...

Below is race driver Ken Block demonstrating the sport of gymkhana. He pulls some crazy tricks, but best of all is the 360 degree donut he does inside a building. The video starts to warm up around a minute in, and gets truly nuts around 3:00. (Gymkhana is a similar to autocross, except the courses are very complex and must be memorized by the driver to achieve best time. Obstacles include cones, tires, and barrels; drivers are challenged to perform "reversals, 180 degree spins, 360 degree sp...

One of the reasons I love living here in Northern Chile is the great variety of personalities represented in the people who live here.
