What would happen to your productivity if you had a way to block Internet access to your favorite time-wasting websites like Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia and trashy celebrity gossip blogs? If you are like most people, you would probably get a lot more work done.
What can I say—it's amazing. Loaded with over 350 LEDs in a matrix, this Daft Punk helmet simply radiates awesomeness. Made by Harrison Krix of Volpin Props, this DIY project took four months to build (much shorter than his last helmet of 17 months).
Edit on a Dime has made it through its first week, dear readers. As the collection of links and blog posts below make apparent, we’re entering into an exciting, dare I say fecund, time for low cost and free editing solutions. We'll have no shortage of apps to try out, argue over and utilize to make some, hopefully great, movies.
Increasingly, I'm turning to Google+ as a source of news, and it looks like I'm not the only one. On Thursday, news of a small earthquake broke on both Twitter and Google+. One curious user, +Keith Barrett, decided to try and find out which social network was faster with the news. Turns out it was a tie. As Google integrates Google+ more closely with the rest of its services, and more users post relevant stories, I think we'll start to see Google+ as a place that can create and break stories,...
This video shows how the maker of that Monster Tubulum actually put it together. Between this, the FAQ on his blog, and a whole lot of intelligence, you'll have all the information and insight you need to put together your own super awesome PVC instruments.
I received an email today, informing me that Google would be adding the +1 button to Google AdSense ads. Google's Inside AdSense blog explains the details further. You will be able to see that your friend has +1'd the ad, along with any of your other contacts. The recommendations will be used to create more relevance for you, as the user.
Google+ launched their API for public data today. For now it provides read-only access to public data in the form of People & Activities. Here are some links to get you started:
Now that you can invite anyone you want to Google+, the floodgates are open. If you've been bummed out about not being able to share the joys of Google+ with your friends and acquaintances, make use of that handy envelope icon the right side of your stream page. Just enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite, and hit the "Invite" button.
Creamy beautiful whipped soaps made from scratch to use instead of bar soaps. A creamy dreamy texture will make you never want to use bar soap again. Your can check them out HERE
Via Newsweek Tumblr. Looks like this video and billboard hijacking is the work of DesireObtainCherish, an LA-based street team. The work isn't exactly great art, but it's an amusing form of culture jamming, in which anti-consumerist activists subvert public advertisements.
Lisa Eldridge is one of the most preeminent makeup artists in the fashion editorial space today, working with nearly every A-list female in Hollywood. Her blog is full of interesting tutorials and articles, and Eldridge recently posted a fascinating interview with Madeleine Marsh, historian and author of Compacts and Cosmetics: Beauty from Victorian Times to the Present Day.
Luxirare is a site of mystery; the genius behind the intricate and painstakingly photographed projects remains somewhat anonymous, despite her culinary mastery, fashion pieces and e-shop being featured in the likes of Vogue, Lucky Mag, ABC, NBC, and the New York Times. Insanely stylish and original, Luxirare has been blogged about all over the web.
So very pointless, yet unquestionably spectacular. The best kind of "art" performs no other function than to delight the viewer, and Japanese YouTube user Denha's complex marble machines do just that. But are marble machines art? You can call them that—or toys, scientific contraptions, engineering feats—but however you choose to label them, the best marble machines are complicated, skillfully crafted, and driven by the principles of potential energy, kinetic energy and gravity.
So...I really liked the original Fast and the Furious movie, because I think Vin Diesel is awesome. (How could the voice of the Iron Giant not be?) But I hated the subsequent sequels, because he wasn't in them. But in this latest version, Fast Five, Vin Diesel is back! If you live in Los Angeles, follow the hilarious blog YouOffendMeYouOffendMyFamily on Twitter and tell them why you want to see the movie. The most interesting reason wins, so be creative!
If you dig case mods and Resident Evil, it's fair to say you'll find Ron L. Christainson’s nothing short of epic. Inspired by the renown video game and movie, Ron—an artist and PC tech from Seattle—has already spent a year constructing the mod from scratch, and still has a couple months of work ahead of him.
Err, I'd say "inspired" is putting it lightly. A recent Google Profiles redesign reveals a new profile page that looks nearly identical to the current Facebook profile page.

Wish you could make the shift to electric or hybrid, but you can't afford it? If you've got more than a few free weekends on your hands, you may want to consider undertaking Benjamin Nelson's ambitious (to say the very least) car conversion project.
For all pickle aficionados, apparently the combination of sour pickles and sweet Kool-Aid is surprisingly delectable. Popular in Mississippi, Kool-Aid drenched pickles are a popular treat coined Koolickles. Sound unappetizing? Don't knock it 'til you try it. The New York Times reports, "[Koolickles] have an arresting color that combines green and garnet, and a bracing sour-sweet taste that they owe to a long marinade in cherry or tropical fruit or strawberry Kool-Aid."
Dear Fellow Glass Lover, last summer I wanted to build my own website with Drupal to create a glass art community. But just now I found out it is not necessary. WonderHowTo.com has it up and running already. All we have to do now is fill it with content. Please become a contributing member, upload your videos, how to tips in the Blog and pin your glass art related events on the Corkboard. This is not my site - this is a glass art community site.

Like the anti-privacy spy doorknob, the transparent clutch isn't for someone with something to hide. But for those who hold no secrets, there's something truly elegant about the design, which has made an appearance on several different high fashion runways:

Outfitted with a glowing MacBook sleep indicator, this Mac-o'-Lantern gives new meaning to the phrase "sleepy hollow." Interested in making your own? The folks at Evil Mad Science Laboratories offer a complete write-up of the build process on their blog. Be forewarned, however, that, unless you use a smaller-sized pumpkin, people may just assume that you've stuffed a Mac Mini in there!
I suppose it's possible that peas in a pop could be surprisingly delicious, but I'm leaning towards unappetizing. Via baby food recipe blog Weelicious:

Rose Levy Beranbaum is an award winning baker, cookbook author (The Cake Bible), and authority on CAKE! I recently stumbled across a collection of "Cake Questions" on Beranbaum's blog that address a variety of issues that may come up:
WonderHowTo has seen it's fair share of strange cakes. Semi-gruesome cakes (brains), downright stomach churning cakes (cigarettes and meat), and playfully disgusting cakes (Star Wars spilled guts).
Google Street View has civilization well covered, but what about the great outdoors? Street View now travels via snowmobile in the unpaved Canadian wilderness, just in time for the winter games.
The X-Ray Vision-aries Blog has compiled a list of YouTube's 100 Coolest Science Experiments. I particularly enjoy their introduction to the selection:
