So, as if it wasn't obvious enough, money is playing a big role in this World Cup, not just by how much will be injected into the South African economy (also dubbed as the "World Cup Bump"). Here's a brief look at what some teams stand to make depending on how far the make it.
We all know the stress that a ringing phone causes these days. Should you pick up that unrecognizable number? More often than not, it's a bad decision. You hear the automated message and hang up. Or worse, a real human asks you about your day before trying to sell you something.
Misty May shows you how to handle being in the middle of all the action on offense and defense. Block and attack for middle hitters.
Infowars has a great new article on the myths of 'limited war'. It's a great read. Here are some excerpts:
Erik at Not-Me.org is a rare spirit. He's committed to helping people protect themselves. His non-profit studio in Massachusetts focuses on training at-risk individuals in self-defense.
Sami Hyypia, who plays defense for Finland, claims that it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are in soccer. Rather, it's your ability to read the game that'll determine whether you win or not.
DARPA is at it again. This time, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has announced plans to create nanochips for monitoring troops health on the battlefield.
Stand in position. Make sure your stance is correct and your eye on the receiver. Do not throw right away. If the defense gets to you, move out of the way. Wait until the receiver is open
West LA Seido Karate-do embeds its personal protection program into its on-going classes. Private instruction in this aspect of Seido can also be arranged with Kyoshi on an individual basis.
This is not the type of news I like to read, but the headline popped up like a glaring alarm. While Solicitor General, it appear pending Supreme Court Justice candidate Elena Kagan may have enabled the defense of Monsanto in its fight for GE control of alfalfa seeds in the US.
Ade Adepitan who plays for the Great Britain wheelchair basketball team, shows you how to maneuver your way around the court. The most impressive technique involves just hip action, leaving the hands free for dribbling, shooting and defense. Maneuver on the court in a wheelchair.

Some say Nigel Richards is to SCRABBLE what Garry Kasparov is to chess, but that doesn't make him perfect.
Tower defense games have taught us little. We already knew that defending castles from baddies was fun and that legions of weenies are the key to success in most real-time strategy situations. What other insights have they to offer?
This is a helpful soccer video because it gives you tactics from both sides of play. Taken from a training routine from the Spanish Football Federation, the video improves your team's ability to retain possession of the ball while also breaking down offense moves in terms of what defense can do to prevent them.
WikiLeaks. In recent weeks, it's been the hottest topic on the web. It's been attacked on a multinational level by political influence peddling.
Unfortunately, toxic and belligerent people are not as avoidable as we would like for them to be. They show up in our work place, schools, neighborhoods—sometimes even within our own circle of friends and family members. The best we can do is minimize our interactions with them and plan for exit strategies to cut the conversation short. If an interaction is avoidable because the person is your boss or family member, then arm yourself with a few verbal defense moves to keep yourself from getti...
On May Day in 1971, the US Army rounded up approximately 7,000 protesters into a stadium in Washington, DC that they treated like a make-shift prison camp. Have things changed in the past 40 years? Now a Department of Defense document has been leaked to the Web that details "Internment and Resettlement Operations." The manual outlines policies for processing detainees in internment camps domestically and abroad and how to "re-educate" unruly activists. Alex Jones, host of the Alex Jones Show,...

They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal’s Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agenc...
This week's roundup features three games that I've either never bothered to play, was unable to play due to PC technical limitations, or haven't played because they've just been released. None of these three games cost more than $15.
Nitroglycerin, otherwise known as the explosive essence of dynamite, is so sensitive AND powerfully explosive that when hit with a hammer, it creates "a supersonic shockwave and a flash of light almost too fast to film, even with the latest specialist cameras". In the blink of an eye (literally) extreme detonation occurs. Shooting super slo-mo is absolutely necessary (600x slower, to be exact).
For some of you, this is old news. But for those who spent Labor Day weekend cooped up like a hermit (me), you may have missed this recent nasty bit of U.S. Open news.

The Council on Foreign Relations says you shouldn’t worry about the United Nations Small Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), which is currently being hammered out at the United Nations in New York.
Any time a feature is introduced in an MTG set and not replicated in subsequent sets, balancing issues are surely forthcoming. You wind up with one set that can do things the others can't, forcing players to counter that set with other cards from it, and generally limiting the creativity with which one can effectively play the game. Playing these types of cards is like playing trap defense in hockey or boxing like Floyd Mayweather: you might win, but neither you, your opponents, nor the peopl...
Buy, buy, buy. Buy this, buy that. Many wizards are buying crowns and earning or buying gold points to buy an in-game item. I, myself am saving up for the Great Fortress, a giant 50,000 coin Dragonsyre house. But right now, I still have to face the hideous greyed-out Buy button:

Dungeon Defenders is the most exciting craft game on the Fall 2011 release schedule. I got a chance to play it at PAX in August and interviewed developers Trendy Entertainment last month. After more than a year of publishing difficulty and delay, the game finally came out on PSN, XBLA and Steam. I put about 20 hours into the XBLA version over the past weekend, beating all the campaign maps and racking up a huge pile of in-game money. It is not a perfect game. But it is a huge, challenging, an...

I've been unreasonably excited about Dungeon Defenders (NOT DUNGEON DEFENDER!) for almost a year. Playing it at PAX did nothing to damper that enthusiasm. I had a chance this week to speak with co-founder/development director Jeremy Stieglitz and marketing diretor Philip Asher from Gainesville, Florida based developer Trendy Entertainment to find out a little more about the game, and how it came together.
Posted with permission via HereComeTheYanks.com Ok, so my prediction of a 3-1 USA victory didn't come true. But I can honestly say that I am extremely happy with a 1-1 draw!! There were times where we looked shaky (first 15 minutes). But there were also times when we were taking it to them (Jozy's great run down the flank only to be denied by the woodwork).
Your home’s roof is the first line of defense in keeping the elements out. A common problem among both new and old roofs alike is damaged shingles. Wind, falling tree limbs, or just normal wear and tear can damage shingles. It is critical to replace damaged shingles to prevent more expensive damage from occurring.
If you’re unfamiliar with League of Legends, you’re either not into PC gaming or you haven’t spent much time on the internet. Riot Games officially released League almost two years ago, and since then it’s become a huge hit. In fact, the Santa Monica based company recently announced that the DOTA inspired game has 15 million registered users, 4 million unique logins each month, and 500,000 people playing the game at any given moment.
