I am anti-oil, anti-gas, and just anti-fossil fuel in general, which causes me some serious vaccilation of the mind when it comes to my enthusiasm for the do it yourself wonder material known as PVC. Even though I love this stuff for its properties, I really do not like the processes that go into making and disposing of it. That means I get happy when I see news like this.
In this Null Byte, I'm going to teach you about Null Byte Injections. Null Bytes are an older exploit. It works by injecting a "Null Character" into a URL to alter string termination and get information or undesirable output (which is desirable for the malicious user).
Rajo comes moustache to moustache with Morgan 'SUPERSIZE ME' Spurlock! The have a quick chat about branding, product placement and the like right before his new film kicked off hotDocs 2011.
Look at this poor kid, he's exhausted. And as a result, he's a little cranky when it comes to hotDocs' midnight movie program thing, which he says has has lots of potential yet untapped...
Running late for The National Parks Project meant that Rajo took in a little election doc called GNARR... fitting viewing on the eve of one of the nail-bitingest Canadian Federal elections in recent memory.
Wow, what a party! Rajo hits this year's hotDocs' opening night gala and manages to talk to documentary filmmakers Morgan Spurlock & Michael Tucker as well as a few of the guys from FIGHTVILLE!
Rajo's out on the prowl, watching documentary films, meeting documentary fans, and making a daily documentary of his experiences. Check back every day this week for more updates!
There were some additions to the game today that are not part of a theme. First off we have a new Co-Op that you can join to win the Truck Seeder
I made several spud guns in my younger years.... They were never the same. The only constant in my potato gun construction was AquaNet. AquaNet hairspray was the key to my spud gun's fire power.
Watch this how-to video and make a lighter that never runs out of fuel and that's so simple, it can't break. It works just like a Diesel engine - as air is rapidly compressed it heats to over 800 degrees. You can make one for just a couple dollars. This video tutorial will show you how to be prepared in the wilderness, or the apocalypse. Just make your own fire piston.
Uh. This thing is incredible. Just watch it move. The real action starts around 0:30. The beast has been named Chainlink, and was made from salvaged parts and a fuel injected Ford 5.0 V8 engine, taken out of a '93 Cobra Mustang (via creator/YouTube user rhauf1).
If you're like me, you were disappointed when NASA cut their human space flight program. No longer could children and adults in dead-end jobs dream of someday walking on the surface of the Moon or drinking floating globules of water through a straw. Homo sapiens as a species are still making it up there, but I will never be one of the chosen ones.
Watch this video from This Old House to learn how to change your water heater anode rod. Steps:
Injection is an attack vector that involves breaking out of a data context and switching into a programming context through the use of special characters. These characters are significant to the interpreter being used, but not needed for the general user input being asked for.
Last Friday's mission was to accomplish solving HackThisSite, realistic 4. The fourth in a series of realistic simulation missions was designed to be exactly like a situation you may encounter in the real world. This time, we are told "Fischer's Animal Products is a company that slaughters animals and turns their skin into overpriced products which are then sold to rich bastards! Help animal rights activists increase political awareness by hacking their mailing list."
As many of you may have noticed, nearly every Google product (i.e. Gmail, Google search, etc.) has gone through a bit of a makeover since the release of Google+. Big blocky buttons and enormous font sizes are apparently the thing of the future, and with a cool JavaScript hack, you can have a goofy YouTube, too! Now, I'm actually just being a bit facetious, the new YouTube is really the only thing that I like out of all of Google's recent redesigns. It looks pretty sleek.
1/3 of the city gone, the red colored buildings and homes are the ones that got destructed in the fire..
In this tutorial, Jackie Silver tells us how to treat acne with mesotherapy. Acne can occur in all ages, whether you're a teen or an adult. Once your glands get plugged up, it results in acne, and mesotherapy can help treat this. You must go to a doctor to get this therapy, as it's not something you can do yourself. Find a doctor in your area that offers these services, and schedule a consultation. Make sure to ask before and after pictures to see how their work looks. Your doctor may want to...
No doubt you've seen some of the hack logs being released. One part that stands out over and over again is the heavy database usage. It used to be early on that virus and hackers would destroy data, usually just for lulz. However, with the explosive commercial growth of the Internet, the real target is turning into data theft. You should learn how this happens so you can protect yourself accordingly. Let's take a look at what makes this possible and dare I say, easy.
Bushcraft and Survival Skills Magazine and Videojug team up in this informative video to demonstrate how to create a lean-to emergency shelter with minimal resources. You will need an uprooted tree, sturdy straight branches and plenty of leaves and debris. Choose the right spot for camp. Try and stay near water and fuel for fire. Try to stay away from animal trails. Check the area above your site. Always try to camp at the edge of the forest. These and other practical considerations are discu...
Introducing the National Ignition Facility. Not only is the name curiously amazing (a facility designated for the act of … combustion?), but it also happens to house the largest, most high energy laser in the world. Why would they create such a thing? To create a miniature star on Earth, with the goal to achieve fusion (re: an unlimited supply of free energy).
How many gallons of gas does it take to get from Kansas City to New York? Depends on what you're driving. In this custom-modded Indy race car designed by students at the DeLaSalle Education Center? About four.
In this tutorial, we learn the proper way to start a STIHL trimmer. Before you begin, make sure you are wearing the proper protection gear. Next, check the fuel level, throttle trigger, stop switch, cutting tool, and harness. Everything should be tightened and in good starting condition. Make sure you are away from any obstructions before you turn on the cutter. Pull the starter grip and guide it to rewind it properly. Pull the rope several times, then move the choke to the starter position. ...
When storing your pressure washer for more than 30 days, it is important to take preventative steps to protect the pump and other components from damage caused by the cold temperatures. This home and harden How-to video will show you how to protect and store you pressure washer during the winter. Use a fuel stabilizer for your engine and remove all water from your washer before storing it. Protect and store a pressure washer during the winter.
Bushcraft and Survival Skills Magazine and video jug team up to demonstrate how to build a bivouac shelter. Materials you will need are: a bivouac, a ground sheet and a knife. Choose right spot for camp. Is there a fuel source or water nearby? Is there a water source? These and other practical considerations are discussed. Build a bivouac shelter.
Hydrogen gas has been a front runner in the alternative fuel debate for decades now. It is plentiful, inexpensive, and the only byproduct of its combustion is water vapor. In the following video, I demonstrate how hydrogen can be produced in large quantities using very inexpensive and common chemicals. Materials:
Science-fiction writer Jules Verne predicted many scientific breakthroughs, including the moon landing, tasers, and nuclear submarines. In his 1874 book The Mysterious Island, Verne writes:
Here's a simple bar trick that you can pull off at your next alcohol-fueled gathering. Tap one beer bottle against another to freeze both beer bottles into solid ice in 2 to 3 seconds.
The economic mini-camper isn't a particularly new idea, but German designer Cornelius Comanns' Bufalino concept is about as sleek as I've seen them.
BangShift forum member John Cerone posts an incredibly exhaustive step-by-step guide to rebuilding an American V-8 carburetor.
Atlanta based designers Amy Flurry and Nikki Salk collaborate on some fantastic paper installations, which are “fueled by a love of fashion and an appreciation of grace and nuance of this humble material.”
LEGO maniac Dave DeGobbi has created a small, traveling "eco-punk" city which exists on a mobile platform.
Forget electric cars, quit mixing your at-home biodiesel; just attach one of Dutch John's handy wood gasification contraptions to the back of your car and fuel your transportation with backyard wood chips.
Capstone's CMT-380 stealth looking prototype can hit 150mph, compared to Tesla's 125. Tesla better step it up.
No more alkaline batteries. No more NiCad's. No NiMH's. No Lithium. Forget all of those hazardous chemical reactions in the batteries and think eco-friendly. Professor David Edwards did.
Sandia National Laboratories of New Mexico has developed the Precision Urban Hopper, a robot that uses one powerful leg to propel itself over barriers up to twenty-five feet high.
The fire piston is a primitive device that many claim Rudolph Diesel used as a model for his namesake engine design. Both employ the use of compression ignition. The piston compresses the air to over 800 degrees Fahrenheit. This results in the ignition of the tinder in the tip of the bolt.
I finally got around to trying out this jam jar jet project. The most successful and longest lasting pulse was somehow the only one I did not record. You can imagine how frustrating that probably was, though my tenth and final attempt was nearly as satisfying. But even the failures were fun to watch, especially the blue flame floating, almost dancing, around the jar. I especially liked the small foghorn sound that my first failed attempt produced.
You might already know a little bit about what the National Ignition Facility has been up to lately, or what they could possibly achieve. But last week, even the scientists at the Livermore, California station couldn't predict the awesome power that their humongous laser was capable of. NIF's laser is already the record holder for the world's largest laser, and now it can also claim to be the first ever 2 megajoule ultraviolet laser after it generated nearly 100 times more energy than any oth...
