The ready position is the position you want to be in when you're waiting for your opponent to hit you the tennis ball. It's the foundation for tennis movement in general. From this position you can employ the various footwork patterns that let you move around the tennis court correctly. The ready position is very similar to an athletic stance in basketball. Your feet are a little bit wider than shoulder-width apart, your knees are slightly bent and the weight should be on the balls of your feet.
Footwork is probably the most important part of tennis. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most underrated areas of the sport. Learning to move around the tennis court correctly is EXTREMELY important. Correct footwork lets you use correct stroke mechanics when you hit. Correct footwork is what typically sets advanced tennis players apart from everyone else.
Bringing your back foot up after you hit the tennis ball puts you in position to recover back to the middle of the tennis court. The key, as we explain in this video, is to get your body facing the net after you hit (similar to the ready position). This will let you side shuffle back to the middle of the tennis court.
This video explains how the amount of shoulder rotation you get during a windshield wiper forehand can differ from a classic forehand. After you hit the tennis ball, you typically have to rotate a little bit more than you otherwise would on the windshield wiper. There are a number of reasons for this, but in this video we keep our focus relatively narrow.
Every time you hit a tennis forehand you choose how you position your feet -- what stance you will use. You can hit a forehand with an open, neutral, or closed stance, but you should stay away from the closed stance if possible. This last stance makes it difficult to rotate your upper body through contact, making it difficult for you to use correct forehand mechanics.
New techniques may improve a swimming pool workout from Masters coach Nancy Kirkpatrick Reno. Before sticking a toe in the water, consider this advice: * Swim in a pool that's at least 20 to 25 yards long; those pools can usually be found at high schools and some gyms. A 50-meter Olympic-size pool is best, but not everyone has access to that. "If you're going to become a lap swimmer," Kirkpatrick-Reno says, "you can't go any shorter or you'll be constantly turning." An outdoor pool is prefera...

It's like the H-bomb. In slo-mo, it's stunning. In real life, it's terrifying. The footage below was uploaded by YouTube user NielsBorg, unfortunately lacking in description, but offers the following information via headline: "T90 shot taken by Photron camera at 18000 fps". The T-90 is a brute of a tank, a third-generation battle vehicle used by the Russian Ground Forces and Naval Infantry. Age doesn't matter in the world of programming, only skills, and recent high school grad Jack Eisenmann definitely has them. He recently built a homebrew 8-bit computer from scratch, calling it the DUO Adept. A worn television makes up the monitor and speaker system, an old keyboard acts as the input controller and the actual computer itself is housed inside a clear Rubbermaid container, consisting of 100 TTL chips and a ton of wire.
Can't remember when to water the plants? Wish they could just tell you when they need watering—just call you on the phone or something? Or maybe text you, "Help I'm desiccating!" Telecommunications researcher Kate Harman has come up with the device of an absent-minded plant owner's dreams—Botanicalls. It hooks up to your plant and sends you a short text message when the plant is too dry. Each kit costs $99 and includes metal sensors connected to a microcontroller. Insert the sensors into the ...

Here we have a unique piece of work. Miley Cyrus, the girl that started out as a 12 year old acting on Hannah Montana, is now 17 and showing some skin. Do we care? Apparently, parents do. So it seems as if if Cyrus wasn't able to do what she wants in her music videos because of these complaints parents are making. Of course, those complaints are natural, I mean, 8 year old girls look up to her, which really pressures her being a role model.
If your installing your own laminate flooring, you may need to under cut some door jambs. Cutting your own door jambs with a hand saw is the least expensive way. You can rent or purchase an electric jamb saw if you prefer. In my opening photo is a door jamb hand saw, which can be purchased for under 20.00 at the big box stores. When installing laminate flooring the laminate needs to be able to slide under the door jambs so it appears that the door jambs are installed on top of the laminate fl...
