Dropbox continues to make headlines with their recent programming blunder which left the accounts of its 25 million customers wide open during a four-hour time span. During the duration, anyone in the world could access any Dropbox profile by typing in any password. And seeing as this wasn't the first security failure, everyone, including the most loyal users are considering dropping the Dropbox.
I love my laptop. It goes wherever I go. Unfortunately, that means that it also gets pretty grubby after a while. The screen gets dusty. The frame gets smudgy. The spaces between the keys fill up with crumbs of questionable origins. And my desktop? That thing is a dust bunny magnet.

When choosing a security system for the office, Billy Chasen decided to ditch the traditional lock & key barricade for something a little more 21st century. He hacked together a device that uses a web server, servo motor and some parts from Home Depot to enable locking & unlocking via text message. Chasen maintains a list which gives access to green lit office workers, who enter by simply texting "lock" or "unlock"... and voilà, open sesame.

This prank starts with a small plexiglass box (about 12in X 12in X 12in) with a round hole in the top big enough for someones hand/arm. Next, Knoxville goes around collecting the other cast member's valuables (car keys, wallets, phones, etc.) and places it in the box. The kicker is, the box is filled with scorpions. A scorpion sting won't kill you, but who the hell wants to get stung by a scorpion? Knox can then look on in laughter as they try to get their valuable out of the box.

I was shooting last Friday and for a particular shot I wanted a special on a product; I wanted it focused, but soft. Unfortunately we had run out of flags to cut it so my Key Grip came up with a great DIY solution: cut a hole in black wrap, put it on a stand a few feet away from the light (Dedo 400W HMI) and cover that hole with a light diffusion (Opal). The distance from the light guaranteed a defined shape while the diffusion softened up the light itself.
Meg White is often not fully respected as a drummer and just seen as more of a background to Jack Whites stage act. But i really respect what shes doing and her style. I think she's really just sticking to the rock and roll roots and not trying to go for anything too fancy. Is a good reminder of how key simplicity can be. I thinks she's in the pocket. Here is another video from "From the Basement" of The White Stripes, Blue Orchid.
With the advent of the iPad and large inexpensive monitors, movie posters have not only gone digital but they have gone moving as well. Now we are not talking a trailer, we are talking moving Key Art or what is now known as a Living Moving Poster. Bill, Bobbie, and Drew present information on a circle. The presentation defines the key points of a circle. The area of a circle is Pi (3.14) x radius x radius. The diameter of a circle is the line drawn from one end to another inside the circle. The radius is the center of the circle to the edge. To find Pi, one simply takes the circumference/diameter. Circumference/diameter will always equal Pi (3.14) no matter the circle’s size. The final point is “what makes a circle a circle”? It is a b...
In this two part lesson we'll discuss the differences between open chords and barre chords, then introduce the 4 main primary barre chords. I'll give a few tips on how you might position your hand to play the barre chords cleanly, and explain how each barre chord pattern relates to the guitar neck to produce a chord in all 12 keys. Many homeowners wish that their master bedrooms were larger or perhaps their dining room and living room were one. You can often create larger living spaces in your home by removing non-weight bearing walls. It is always tempting to just start knocking things down but demolishing a wall can be tricky. But with a little planning, you will avoid a house full of dust, long waits to duplicate moldings and trim, and other unplanned construction expenses. The main problem with demolishing walls is ...
