Do you know your constitutional rights if stopped by the police? Washington Post recently ran an interesting article on "10 Rules", a docudrama produced by the D.C. nonprofit Flex Your Rights.
What more is there to say about the almighty Conrad Schnitzler? One of the original founders of Tangerine Dream and Kluster (later Cluster), his contributions to the world of German experimental electronic music have been enormous. With album, cassette, and cd releases miles long, his discography would take a lifetime and a pretty penny to catch up to. 'Conrad and Sohn' is a pretty unique release, even for Schnitzler. The album was a private press release that he did with his son in 1981. App...
I don't know what they are feeding the kids in Canada but there are so many great bands coming out of there. Vancouver's Terror Bird are no exception. Made up of Nikki Never (Modern Creatures) and Jeremiah Haywood (Twin Crystals), these two have released a few cassettes and a couple singles now. "Sociopaths are Glam" is my favorite so far. This was a cassette release on Night People out of Iowa City. The music is dark and murkey, lo-fi synth pop. They pull from mid 80's dark wave but their m...
The latest culinary trend? How about breaded and fried deer balls. That's right, you heard me. The Atlantic makes an interesting point about the political correctness of "nose-to-tail" eating:
Make your own 3D movie with this easy camera hack: record with two cameras simultaneously. Next, use video software to overlap the images, making it viewable through 3D glasses. Very clever (and cheap) concept by Ron and AmyJo Proctor. Check out their site for more details.
For the Pixel 4's face unlock feature to work in the dark, Google had to add a front-facing IR camera. If you download a specific app, you can actually see a live feed from this camera. It's true night vision for your phone, and it's completely free.
While One UI 2 comes with a slew of improvements like native screen recording and more intuitive gestures, it also includes some redundant features such as button shortcuts for "Media" and "Devices" that many of us can do without.
In a surprising move, Apple just released iOS 10 developer beta 7 and public beta 6, just four days after releasing the last betas. Apple hasn't pushed out this many betas since iOS 5, and they're on pace to break that record.

There's a good chance you've never used the Dictation function on your iPhone's keyboard, or even knew that it existed for that matter. That small microphone icon in between the emoji key and the space bar is great if you use dictation, but otherwise, it just gets in the way when you're trying to quickly type.
In a time when messaging platforms may outnumber the people you'd ever want to message, one of the more popular options—Facebook Messenger—received a big update for both Android (must be part of the free beta program) and iOS, going from version 5.0 to 6.0.
Have you been caught eating the cookies that were left for Santa? That's easy to explain, but what do you do when the doubt begins to rise in your child, rendering them dubious about the authenticity of everyone's favorite childhood lie?

If the annual tradition of buying a new wall calendar at a heavily discounted price at some mall kiosk by the end of January is not exactly your scene, then how about making your own nifty DIY wall calendar for 2013?
Cheap deals, great games, and a stable, easy-to-use environment are just a few of the reasons why Valve's online game distributor Steam is so popular. That and it's a great place to interact and play with other gamers, which is why it recently broke records with over 6 million active users logged in at the same time. But one thing that Steam users weren't so crazy about was the inability to install games in more than one directory and partition. If you ran out of space, you either had to unin...

Eat your heart out, Joey Chestnut. There's a new super-speed-eater in town, and she means business. 45-year-old Hatsuyo Sugawara downed an incredible number of 399 bowls of soba noodles in just ten minutes at the annual All-Japan Wanko Soba Eating Championship this past Sunday. The noodle queen calls herself a food fighter, and has been coined "the witch".
Apparently a little amateur astronomy can go a long way. On March 21, 2009, Ralf Vandebergh, sitting in his backyard, pointed his 10 inch telescope at the sky and "saw a few bright pixels appear precisely where the work was going on at exactly the moment it was being conducted." A few bright pixels = an astronaut!
Austrian composer Peter Ablinger has created a "speaking" piano. Ablinger digitized a child's voice reciting the Proclamation of the European Environmental Criminal Court to "play" on the piano via MIDI sequencer. Apparently, the computer is connected to the piano, which analyzes the human speech, and then converts it to key-tapping.

Starting in 1961 the FBI and an army of other non-believers, wiretapped MLK. All found nothing but gossip. No one was able to nail him with any evidence of sedition.
3 Effective Techniques for Following Up With Leads The follow-up phase of the sales cycle is like having a goldfish for a pet, in that it's easy to forget about it, especially compared with the excitement of finding new sales leads. This is unfortunately, though, because you can outperform your competitors by following up with leads and encouraging them to choose your business.
Some interesting news this week, from Obama's new political ad, to the $20,000 payments by Cardinal Dolan. Take a look:
Today's digital cameras record not only the images themselves, but also the metadata behind the scenes, like camera settings, location, date, time, etc. But there's a lot more to say about a photograph. What's the subject? Is it night or day? Outside or inside? Person, place or thing?
You're probably already impressed at some of the photos amateur astrophotographers can capture with their 16-megapixel digital cameras. I know I am. That's why I'm beefing up my camera skills, so I can also take some amazing pictures of our skies above. But if you can take photos this good with a 16-megapixel camera, imagine what you could do with something a little bigger, say, 3.2 billion pixels! That's a whopping 200 times more pixels!
I finally got around to trying out this jam jar jet project. The most successful and longest lasting pulse was somehow the only one I did not record. You can imagine how frustrating that probably was, though my tenth and final attempt was nearly as satisfying. But even the failures were fun to watch, especially the blue flame floating, almost dancing, around the jar. I especially liked the small foghorn sound that my first failed attempt produced.
This article is going to talk about video and only about video. Why? Because video is very important for any size of business. Even now, I’m going to show you some articles that have been written on different websites talking about video and how small businesses can use them and how businesses need to use them now, especially to rank o...

How many people use the big search engines here? I'm going to estimate 90% of everyone on WonderHowto uses one of the following on a regular basis: Google, Bing or Yahoo! Search. The question is: are you in that 10%? You should seriously consider dumping Google search for DuckDuckGo. Why? DuckDuckGo does not track you.
UPDATE: New York Giants WON! Super Bowl XLVI has concluded. The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 21 to 17. "How do I install Arch Linux?" That question was bound to come up eventually. And with me using Arch, it's no coincidence that all of you want to use it as well. Arch is arguably the best Linux distro available. Distros that come close are Gentoo and some aspects of Ubuntu, but Arch is meant for building your OS from the inside out. Arch is built around minimalism, so you won't get anything by default. It doesn't even come with sound!
Natural processes often create objects that have a fractal quality. Fractal branching patterns occur in plants, blood vessel networks, rivers, fault lines, and in several electrical phenomena. Many of these processes take lifetimes, or even occur on geological timescales. But this is not the case for electrical phenomena. They often occur near instantaneously. One example would be the branching patterns that sometimes occur in lightning.
This is the first of a multi-part series on steganography techniques. Steganography, the art of hiding things in plain sight, has existed for a long time, and in many forms. When you manipulate the alphabet to have your own cipher and decipher, this is considered steganography.
One of the biggest video games events of the year is about to happen in Japan tomorrow, when the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) kicks off. If you've never heard of it, just think of it as the E3 of the East—a video game extravaganza open to both businesses (Thursday and Friday) and the public (Saturday and Sunday). And even though it hasn't officially started, TGS has already released some grand announcements, specifically about Nintendo's future lineup and a precipitous drop in their share prices.
