FarmVille added a new feature today in place of the old Mystery Boxes. This is a mystery game! It costs a bit more than the old boxes did, but you are guaranteed to get at least one of each of the mystery prizes by the time all the balloons are popped, instead of wasting tons of farm cash and perhaps opening a hundred mystery boxes and never getting that one thing you really wanted. So this is a great improvement and is much more interactive than the old 'purple sparkly poof'.
Who knows if this is going to be any good? In my experience, these combo consoles that claim to be able to play your Atari and NES games are eventually doomed to failure, as you're stuck hunting down Duck Hunt cartridges and then having to stick them in the freezer when they eventually freeze on-screen.
What separates Metro 2033 from other FPS games? Life. There are underground towns, markets, children, music, and so much background chatter than sometimes you can't single out a particular conversation.
Picked up Metro 2033 from the Steam Sale. Wow is it pretty. At 1080p with DX11 and gorgeously detailed, it's hard to not stop and stare at every single thing! I wish there was a way to somehow convey this feeling..
Like Brickwall? This is a very cool redesign to the Brickwall-type games. Catchy music and beautiful graphics, this game should be great for both casuals and hardcore.
Apparently people play FarmVille and continue to play it because of the social obligations that tie you to it. According to SUNY Buffalo instructor (and student) A. J. Patrick Liszkiewicz:
There is a huge steam sale going on for the next week and a half. 33%, 50%, 66%, 95% off most games!! Every day until July 4th they will also have daily deals, where certain games get discounted even more!Currently (thanks to Neogaf for a clean list of titles): THQ Pack @ 50% ($49.99)
A really good interview for the upcoming game Crysis 2 with lots of game play footage.
The 360 Spring Arcade bundle is $149 at Amazon and Ebgames! This includes Viva Pinata and Banjo Kazooie.
All right women are you sick of playing games like GTA where you kill hookers? In Hey Baby you get to kill all the men who've been harassing you on the streets!
Ever play a 3D hand held game tied to a gorgeous blond model? Yeah, it happens all the time, so boring. But the video does give a nice look at the 3D aspect of the system. In the video you can see how it adapts to the players movement of the device.
A demonstration of Ubisoft's Your Shape: Fitness Evolved for the Xbox 360's Kinect. This was probably the best demonstration for Kinect out of the whole conference. The game will come out around the same time of the launch of Kinect in November.
I really enjoyed this article.
Walk through of the hotly anticipated game Epic Mickey for the Wii. The game went through a redesign to make it look closer to a lot of the amazing concept art shown earlier in the year.
So go to the link for the instructions, and you'll end up with this screen. You should know how to do this if you've ever done any video game cheats.
Call it World Cup fever. Someone or someones decided to make a whole bunch of reenactments of LEGO soccer games, including the infamous US vs England draw. Via MetaFilter.
W-O-W. This trailer looks amazing. From 2kGames (Bioshock), this game looks to be set in the 50's with stellar art direction. I don't know how well this sits with people who have played the previous XCOM games, but from a new player perspective I really loved the trailer.
From the maker of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, Itagaki brings you his newest game. Wow, this game looks great but will it be better than Bayonetta?
From the upcoming game Deus Ex 3, here is an in game screen shot. Oh boy this is going to throw the Tea Party in a tiffy! The original shot (the poster is in the upper left corner):
Game management for coaches discussion head coach of Whitefield Academy Football and former Ole Miss player, Jimmy Fields.
This brand new Zynga game launched today and I'm looking forward to bringing you news and information about the game as well as updates and tips!
Check out this article from the LA Times that picks through how awesome Red Dead Redemption is for its creators Take Two.
A cartoony, "Trials HD"-type game being released today. It's multiplayer so you can take on people at home or online. Looks like a lot of fun. You can also create your own levels. Here is an excerpt from the Game Informer review:
The full 30 minute short film by John Hillcoat that was shown on TV. From the description: Red Dead Redemption: The Man from Blackwater
Gamers can read, too! This book is slated to come out in October. Of course there'll be arguments over what should have been included, what got overlooked, and what's overrated. Which video games do you think belong in the "must-play" categories?
E3 is around the corner and new game information is being leaked or revealed everywhere. Deus Ex was a huge hit a long time ago. Think Bladerunner. The trailer actually looks amazing and it's obviously all cgi. I've seen actual in game screen shots, and it looks ok. I'll wait till the gameplay videos come out before making any judgements.
Joseph Ford's photography series couldn't have a more befitting name: If I Were President...
Video Games Live is in LA 6/17. I went last year and it was so much fun!
These are great times. It is about time advertisers invaded our video games in the same way they do our driving (billboards), walking (fliyers, posters), and our private home (emails, bulk mail, text messages).
ESPN + ABC to Broadcast all 64 Games! This is AWESOME news. In the past we've struggled to get obscure matches broadcast on regular channels. For the first World Cup ever, the US will get every game on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC. The 2010 World Cup South Africa kicks off June 11 and the final match is July 11.
Upcoming Peanuts game. Thought it was a cool looking picture of the gang.
There are no spoilers in this writing, read without worry. Finished Episode 3 of Alan Wake yesterday, impressed by different reasons. I originally bought the game for the possibility of great story, dialogue, and voice acting. That part of the game has been disappointing. What has stood out from playing episodes 1 to 3 is the level design and game play.
This is a new video game magazine. It's not your everyday Game Informer, though. Kill Screen Magazine aims to be "what early Rolling Stone was to rock n’ roll or Wired was to tech". The sample PDFs are an intriguing introduction. I'd love to see what they come up with.

I really really want this game but 1. It's $60 for what feels like a $40 game.
