Self portraits are a wonderful way to give viewers a sense of a photographer's taste and personality. And contrary to popular belief, they do not have to be as cliché as using the reflection of your bathroom mirror. There are plenty of different creative approaches one can take.
Eric Jacqmain is one smart cookie. Borrowing from the same principles of Archimedes’ mythological death ray, the Indiana teenager used an ordinary fiberglass satellite dish and about 5,800 3/8" mirror tiles to create a solar weapon with the intensity of 5000x normal daylight. The powerful weapon can "melt steel, vaporize aluminum, boil concrete, turn dirt into lava, and obliterate any organic material in an instant."
While a cast member is our filming a prank, perhaps over a weekend, go into their house or appartment and turn everything upside down. By that I mean permanently fix all the household furnature (ie. desks, bookshelves, bed, fridge) to the ceiling. So he'll return to find his world had been turned upside down... literally.

WWF's latest campaign uses augmented reality to raise awareness for the endangered Siberian tiger by demonstrating how it "feels" to be hunted down and shot. Created by Leo Burnett Moscow, thousands of special AR t-shirts featuring the tiger were printed and distributed to stores in Moscow. Each time the wearer passes in front of a "special video mirror" (re: web cam), a bloody shooting animation is triggered.
For some, adrenaline beats out every time. Though I've seen countless videos of base jumping, the sport never ceases to amaze. The video below, Last Walk Around Mirror Lake – Boom Bip (Boards of Canada Remix), is no exception to the rule. Shot in Norway, FroschYankee's footage is nothing short of stunning. *For more info, check out Adrenaline Rush (The Science of Risk), the film which this clip was featured in.
Swedish interface geeks The Astonishing Tribe predict what kind of touchscreen technology we'll be using in 2014 (that would be approximately 3 years, 4 months from today): Eek, that first movement that occurs around 0:25 (he pulls the screen to the right, extending it's width) is trippy. In a great way. The Astonishing Tribe says:

Just dried a load of laundry? Don't throw away that used fabric softener sheet just yet. You can repurpose a used sheet for a variety of practical uses around the home, such as picking up pet hair from your furniture, deodorizing your gym bag, removing static cling from your stockings, and adding shine to your mirrors and toaster.

If you take two flat mirrors and place them front to back and look at them, you can see an infinite number of reflections. While this is a self-replicating pattern and can be somewhat mesmerizing, it isn't anywhere as interesting as looking at the chaotic scattering of light that can occur between 3 or 4 spheres.

It hasn't been as bad as the remakeorama trend in cinema, but developers have recognized the value in releasing the same thing they already made and making more money off it.
