The purpose of this article is to discuss how you can change your Windows 7 logon screen. This post will explain how to require a user to enter a username and password by default like the classic version of Windows.
Your BIOS, or Basic Input Output System, is the firmware on your motherboard responsible for initializing your computer's hardware when it is first powered on. It probes for video adapters, RAM, the whole works. The BIOS provides a small library of basic input/output functions used to operate and control the peripherals such as the keyboard, text display functions and so forth, and these software library functions are callable by external software such as the OS and system software within sai...
NASA announced yesterday that their Kepler mission has discovered the first Earth-sized planets orbiting a sun-like star outside of our solar system. Could this mean aliens? Unfortunately, no.
Skyrim is a time consuming game. I know I'm not alone in saying I constantly find myself looking for more time in the day. There is never enough time to read the books I want to read, or learn what I want to learn, or play the games that I want to play.
Can a free cloud-based video editor that lives in your browser replace iMovie? In three words: yes, it can. But whether you should use it instead of iMovie or an equivalent depends not on the functionality of the editor you need, as WeVideo can do what most of what iMovie does, but on what you need to do with your videos once they're finished.
Skyrim really took the cake this year. With its awe-inspiring gameplay, much improved combat and leveling system, and a fresh new look, it's no wonder the game has already received a Game of the Year award. But for hardcore gamers, the fun may be over. You've played the game for thousands of hours, and have exhausted the entire game's main and auxiliary quests. You need more.
Scrabble Bingo of the Day: * CAGANER [n] A caganer is a small figurine of a person defecating in place, pants humorously around the character's ankles. It's a traditional Christmas decoration in Catalonia, Spain and in neighboring areas, where it's placed within the nativity scene.
Hello, welcome to my first post! Today, I would like to talk about setting up a Page File Encryption in Windows 7 and Vista. But first - what is a Page File Encryption? Why should you enable this option?
UPDATE: New York Giants WON! Super Bowl XLVI has concluded. The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 21 to 17. If you missed the big game, there doesn't seem to be a full replay of all the action, but you can visit NBC.com or NFL.com to get information and video highlights on the game and player interviews, as well as a list of all of the records broken and tied.
Today I'll be detailing how to use the two YouTube Video Editors to enhance the quality of your work, as well as going over a simple workaround to save time uploading the variety of clips you'll need to assemble a more complicated piece of filmmaking.
Null Byte is looking for moderators. More threats to computers exist every day. Not only do we have computer viruses and malware, but we have rootkits and other nasty pieces of code that can log your keyboard strokes or even add your computer to a botnet to attack other websites. Your computer can be infected even if you have anti-virus software installed. I can't stress enough how easy it is for a hacker to write a piece of code that gets around every piece of anti-virus software.

As a kid I fell in love with stop-motion animation while watching the superb mastery of Ray Harryhausen (who didn’t? I mean, skeletons! Fighting!).
Notched entered Ludumdare's 48 hour game competition (one of his regular outlets) where he created a mini 2d Minecraft. You can play it now after the jump below...

Not only can they keep track of time, they are capable of powering other more complicated redstone machines. Regardless of whether a redstone clock runs a ten second or twenty-four hour time span, they operate on the same principles, which can be easy and straightforward to understand.
Modern Warfare 3's Spec-Ops mode is what's keeping me coming back every other day, and I'd imagine that's the same situation for everyone that owns the game. Today, the Achievement Hunters are going for all 48 stars in the Spec-Ops missions. This is pretty tough, because you have to play on the hardest difficulty. Because I'm a sissy-man, I can only imagine that it'll take me a long time to complete this one.
It's commonly known that Bethesda games, at launch, are usually the most buggy games to ever leave the hands of any developer. Fallout: New Vegas used to delete people's save files, it was that bad. But then there are the fairly harmless ones that make a dude's head spin when he's talking to you, or discovering that the land of Skyrim is actually larger than you think it is.
Hopefully by now, you've played a good chunk of RAAM's Shadow for Gears of War 3. I've just now started to get to it, as my buddy and I have just completed the main campaign on co-op. For today, we've got three achievements for the newly released DLC. Just make sure you have this downloaded before diving in, okay?
Scrabble Bingo of the Day: DAUBERY [n] An unskillful painting or work, one that is executed in a messy or inexpert way. Since art is highly subjective, I won't point out any dauberies. You probably already have a few in mind.

... A blast from the past! An old friend who provided us with soundtracks for good and bad times... Got a bunch of new apps this weekend and this effect was created with a free one: Moremono. It converts your photo to monotone and preserves the red tone to give a strong and dramatic look! How about that?
You're currently playing a heated game of Scrabble or Words with Friends. The game is close, too close for comfort. But you're not sweating because you're confident. You play a huge word that puts you in the lead, but then when your letter tiles are drawn...

As we all know, redstone can be a very useful tool for make basic things in Minecraft more complex and intricate. For beginners to redstone, today's article will give you a basic understanding of how it functions, as well as its many uses.
Nearly everyone has the capacity to be a cheater. Sometime or another, all Xbox users have yearned to get their gamerscore to unimaginable thresholds—for bragging and egotistical purposes. I can relate to this desire. However, I also don't want to mod my gamerscore, because it's just unfair and not nearly as much fun as doing it the honest way. To me, it's synonymous to entering the cheats into a game after you've beaten it. Cheats can add new life into a game once you're done, but since the ...
Gamers like myself who have switched back and forth between Skyrim on PC and Xbox lack the ability to share game saves. This really sucks. I love playing Skyrim on a console. It's a very comfortable, easy and relaxed gaming experience. You don't have to worry about your frame rate being optimized, or wrist pains from using a keyboard. However, gaming on the PC can allow you to use texture enhancing mods and get an overall smoother experience due to a lack in glitches and bugs that plague the ...
343 Guilty Spark is one of the most recognizable characters from the Halo universe. And how could you not love that little sphere of questionable moral standards? While he plays a major part in the campaign in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, he never showed up in multiplayer. Well, until now, that is.
Facebook's new Timeline feature has been rolling out gradually since its unveiling in September, but yesterday it finally became available to Facebookers everywhere. It's even available on your mobile device, too. Those who want to upgrade to the radical new profile design can do so by simple logging into their Facebook account and visiting the About Timeline page on Facebook.
When I see Kindles and e-readers, I can't help but get a little sad over all the things those e-books are missing. The weight of literature in your hands. The feeling of turning pages one by one. The texture of the cover. The wonderful smell of an old book that's been sitting on a shelf for years, waiting for me to choose it.
Most of the car owners pay attention to the maintenance of the vehicle but among them, many forget to include windscreen maintenance in their periodic checkups. Car windscreen maintenance is quite simple and can be done on your own. In order to maintain car,the drivers should treat this with utmost care as they do for tyres because neglecting small issues in windscreen can land you in deep trouble and on safety prospects as well,it is unsafe.
Washing a car is a simple task. However, many people damage their paint by scratching it or making swirl marks when washing. If you are going to take the time to wash your car, make sure you follow these simple tips to prevent paint damage.
The possibilities are infinite when it comes to DIY gift wrap. Instead of the usual Christmas-themed wrapping paper, make your packaging look funky with old maps, music sheets, calendars, and other material to encase your loved ones' presents.
What started off as a meme, has turned into a near reality. When the E3 trailer for Battlefield 3 was released this summer, it started off with a soldier holding up a dinosaur statue. Obviously, this means that DICE (the developers) should release a DLC pack where you're fighting dinosaurs. This is the next best thing, I guess. DICE, if you're listening, I've got loads of ideas for the dinosaur DLC.
This week saw the release of Gears of War 3's most extensive DLC to date: RAAM's Shadow. Having played the first hour or so of the single-player component, I have to say that it is very good. The story serves as a prequel to the first game in the series, taking place right after Emergence Day. While it's a little pricey at 1200 MSP (or $15 in actual money), the amount of content you get in RAAM's Shadow makes up for the initial investment. It's also one of the best Xbox 360-exclusive DLCs out...
For the holiday season, a great knitting project is a snowflake design. It's perfect for handmade Christmas gifts. You can knit just one, or a row of them, or use them as full pattern on a sweater or blanket—or whatever project you choose.
I've come across a few very stubborn Xbox consoles in my day. A previous Null Byte demonstrated how to fix the Xbox with just eight pennies and some electrical tape. But if you've got one of those hell-born boxes that just refuses to be fixed in any way, shape, or form, there is always one last ditch approach. I'm talking about the infamous "towel trick". It works over 90% of the time, from my personal experience. Though, please note: This is only a temporary fix.
With a lot of Null Byters playing around with Linux because of its excessive use in the hacking world, some of you are bound to run into some trouble with the installation at some point or another. If you make a mistake, or you're intimidated by the wonky-looking installation screen, you may want to just stick with Windows. However, you may notice it can be hard to go back once you've crossed a certain point in the installation. Your Windows installation may be broken or unbootable.

Last Thursday's post demonstrated how to Make Yin-Yang Pillow boxes, which were based on equilateral triangles and squares. The units for making these boxes were created by Phillip Chapman-Bell, who runs an amazing origami blog and has a spectacular flickr photostream. Using these units, you can make also make 4 of the 5 platonic solids. I made an additional template based on the regular pentagon so that the dodecahedron can be built completing the set.
Erik Demaine is a Professor of Electronic Engineering and Comp Sci at MI, but he is also an origami folder who has had work displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. He makes some beautiful models and intricate puzzles, but in my opinion the really inspirational work is the curved creased models. In Erik's own words describing the above models: "Each piece in this series connects together multiple circular pieces of paper (between two and three full circles) to make a large circular ramp ...
Twisted Pixel Games' The Gunstringer is easily the most ridiculous game of the year. I mean, you play as an undead cowboy marionette, legendary director Lloyd Kaufman is in it, and at the end of the game, you shoot the developers. Oh, and the first boss in the game is an inflatable wavy tube man.
