How To: Upload Your Photos to Instagram—Without an Android or Apple Device

Instagram allows us to vicariously live through others, experiencing their moments with them. It's an enormously popular application and has already garnered 100 million users, but it has only been made available for download on Android and Apple devices. Sure, there are third-party apps where you can browse, like, and comment on other people's Instagram photos—but they don't give you a way to upload your own pictures. So, what about all of the other people who want to share their lives, but ...

News: Jupiter and Venus Rising Before the Sun

Right now, Jupiter and Venus are rising in the early morning hours just before dawn. I went outside on the morning of the 4th of July and saw Jupiter and Venus right next to each other with the Pleiades (The Seven Sisters) just above them and knew that the next morning I was going to have to get up early and set up my tripod to try and capture what I saw. I used my Panasonic GH2 with the stock zoom lens set to about 40 to 50 mm equivalent and with the aperture open to about f/5. I set my ISO ...

News: The Crash Test Dummy

Simple as the title, someone will particpate as a crash test dummy. The funny part of course the prank is the "particpate" will not know he is a crash test dummy. Its kinda like the prank that was pulled on Ryan Dunn in the addtional footage in the DVD of Jackass Number Two where an airbag was suppose to go off in his face. Well i hust thought of the same concept but add a 30 or if you want to go crazy, 40 mph crash into wall or whatever it may be. You would tell the person being pranked that...

News: Fort Fight

Have the whole jackass gang dress-up like old men or women (their choice). Divide everyone into two teams and set-up two forts across the street from each other. Just have an all out war. Toss food or what ever you got and cuss like no tomorrow. Of course have permits so you don’t get arrested. When people ask what this is about give them different answers, for example say they stole your cane or they took the last cup of prune juice.

How To: Repack a Motorcycle Muffler

Periodically, motorcycle and ATV exhaust system can be rebuilt to maintain the proper performance and sound level expected from the exhaust system. My experience was with a dirt bike that had an aftermarket high performance exhaust installed.I bought my 99 XR400 second hand and was happy that it already had some nice mods. Namely the High Rev kit, performance header pipes with an E-Series muffler, and the suspension had been redone with higher spring rates. It has great response and the suspe...

News: External Flash

I came across your tutorial on external flash I could not get enough of it. I bought one and had no idea how to work it. Your tutorial did teach me a lot, you seem to explain it in detail. You made it sound a lot easier than it is.I am looking forward to more videos in the future to learn more about my camera and the fllash. My husband bought me a Canon Rebel a couple years ago and created a monster. I am an artist love to draw and it seems to show in my pictures.

News: Best birthday to date

I turned 30 this year. For my birthday I had a wonderful weekend of cooking. Between 2 days I cooked I think almost 60lbs of meat. this is a shot of the before-pile. I was so caught up in the prep, cooking and consumption that I didn't take any after pictures. But dream with me a little and imagine what this could turn in to.

Weekly Tips #3: Making a Build Dynamic

Sometimes, the part of architecture in minecraft that makes something really stand out is not the environment around the build, but the detail in the construction itself. More detail in a building makes that building more eye-pleasing and interesting to look at. However, even extremely detailed buildings can look plain or flat. The reason for this is the wall of it is completely 2D. To make a building really pop, make a surface 3D instead. Not only does it make it more appealing, it adds bett...

News: Two Bright Nebulae in Orion's Sword

My attempt at real astrophotography. The two bright nebula are M 42 and M 43 located in Orion's Sword. I took about 20 images at ISO 800 and 1.6 second exposures using a 300 mm lens and stacked them in Photoshop after repositioning them because of the movement of the sky. This is cropped in just a tiny bit.

Silver & Gold: DIY Modular Origami Christmas Ornaments

After becoming addicted to basic sonobe modular origami, I decided to make ornaments for relatives as Christmas gifts. I tried using fancy paper from stores like Paper Source, and cutting it to proper origami size, but I could never get the tight folds I wanted with non-traditional, non-origami paper. I ended up using this metallic origami paper that folds beautifully, and I'm pretty happy with the tiny models I ended up with. Forgive these pictures (iPhone/Instagram), I don't have my regular...

News: 180 Unit Sonobe Buckyball

I wondered how silly you could get with sonobe, and had a bash at a buckyball, which is a fullerene (technically a truncated isocahedron; you can see a simple model here). It's twelve pentagons—each surrounded by 5 hexagons (20 in total)—making a football shape in England or a soccer ball shape in the USA.

News: Toy Challenge- Battle of the Brave

No filters, just my 3G. This isn't really toys, but I think it counts. I love to paint these. The people are 15mm tall and are from WW2- hard to paint! I have a ton more- I just set this one up. I buy them and make them. For instance, the V1 rocket in the upper right is homemade, while the artillery in the lower right is bought.

News: Escher Tessellated Polyhedra

After Cory Poole posted some great Escher snowflakes, and Cerek Tunca had the great idea of using it as a base for a tetrahedron, well, I just had to give it a go. I will post a few more pictures and variants later (I think this was what Cerek was envisaging—if not let me know!)

How To: Make a Canon Shutter Release Cable

This article will show you how to make a shutter release cable for a Canon camera. It took me about half an hour once all of my materials were gathered. I came in at a total of about eight dollars. It has three switches and buttons. The black button on mine triggers the auto focus. The red button triggers the shutter. Finally, the switch triggers the bulb mode, or long exposure. This can be used to take astronomical photos that show the movement of the stars in the picture. The release cable ...

News: Origami Panda

So, this is a type of origami that is called golden venture origami. This type of origami is made of hundreds to thousands of little intersecting triangles. This took about 2-3 three hours, the picture is pretty bad because it was taken at school with a cell camera. But I hope this inspires you to make some of your own! This type of origami is in essence very easy to make but takes a lot of time and effort to make. However if you get really good at it, you can do it without even looking at ab...

News: The Best 6 Places to Buy Used Camera Equipment Online

Camera manufacturers release new versions of the same cameras, mostly point-and-shoot models, as frequently as Detroit's auto industry upgrades minivans. They also add new lenses regularly, upgrading previous models with adjusted zoom ranges or the image stabilization feature. The same goes for tripods, portable flashes and even camera bags.
