Yesterday, Electronic Arts had a nice sale on Steam for 40-60 percent off some of their Sims titles, which included The Sims 3 (along with its DLCs) and SimCity 4. I've never been a big Sims fan, especially with the slew of virtual people games in the last decade, so I didn't realize until now that Maxis had stopped making their SimCity games; They haven't released any city building Sim games since SimCity 4 eight years ago. There was SimCity Societies in 2007, but it was made by a different ...

There's a couple things you can do to prepare for New Year's Eve this year: stock up on your cocktail recipes, make black-eyed peas (AKA Hoppin' John), or find some fireworks to enjoy. Now add one more tradition to the list: sabrage. The practice dates all the way back to the days of Napoleon, when the cavalry would saber bottles of champagne with their bayonets on the battlefield after a victory. Below, three instructional videos on beheading your bottle.

François Vautier built an art farm into his scanner and then proceeded to scan the farm each week for a duration of five years. Amazing time-lapsed result below. Who new the South Whidbey Assembly of God sponsored our annual 3rd of July fireworks in Freeland. And does anyone care? I just like fireworks and having the celebration on the 3rd suite me fine as I can't get enough fireworks. Alas this year we will miss for the 2nd year in a row (last year watched awesome show from the water in Poulsbo). We will be seeing what St. Simons GA has to offer. I think they are sponsored by the local synagogue (watch out for exploding matzo balls). At least being f...
Cobbled together from thousands of empty cigarette packs, this electric-powered vehicle puts the "car" in carcinogen. Looking suspiciously like something the China National Tobacco Corporation would commission as part of an advertising campaign, the Bugatti Veyron-style auto is actually meant to discourage smoking. The English-language version of the People's Daily offers the following explanation:

A November release week in May It used to be that games marked to be blockbusters (expected to sell more than a million in their first month) would always be released during the holiday September to December season. November was always the month companies chose to release their best game. This release model worked fine until the last few years, when too many games were being released in November and companies started to see diminishing returns on their titles because of the release rush.
